Lanci Asks Opponents to Sponsor Events

Independent candidate sends reminder letter to opponents regarding sponsorship deadline for community event.

Independent candidate for Cuyahoga County Executive Ken Lanci is proud to have been a major sponsor of the 7th Annual “Family Unity in the Park” event at Luke Easter Park this past Saturday.

“When I was asked to be a sponsor of this family-friendly event, I immediately wanted to help and quickly agreed. It takes a lot people pitching in to coordinate this major event and provide it free to the public. Giving back to the community is something I have done for many years and will continue to do for years to come,” said Lanci.

Other candidates for Cuyahoga County executive were upset when they arrived Saturday and were not able to pass out their campaign literature because Ken Lanci was an exclusive sponsor.

 “Both local political parties were asked to sponsor Family Unity in the Park, as were other individual candidates. We were told they declined.  So I stepped up to help make this event successful,” said Lanci.

Councilman Zack Reed organizes the event every year. He extended the exclusive sponsorship to Lanci. Reed said he worked diligently with city officials to make sure the agreement was legal.

“Verizon Wireless was also an exclusive sponsor, which means no other wireless company could promote their products that day in the park.  Exclusive sponsorships are very common and are extended to those who make a serious commitment of support,” said Lanci.

As an act of good faith, Lanci has sent out a reminder to his opponents that the sponsorship deadline for another event, The Glenville Community Festival, is quickly approaching.

“It is my sincere hope that the candidates who expressed their displeasure with my exclusive sponsorship of  Family Unity, will now take advantage of this upcoming opportunity to help the community,” concluded Lanci.
