Lanci Plan for Creating Jobs & Progress

Ken Lanci for Cuyahoga County Executive

Independent candidate for County Executive Ken Lanci calls for innovation and initiative in his economic development plan. Lanci has been creating jobs for decades and knows what it takes to bring businesses and jobs to Cuyahoga County.

“Never in my 40 years of business has anyone come to me offering me a sale. I’ve always had to go out and get it. I had to find the opportunities. That’s exactly what I will do in Cuyahoga County.  I will go out and market this great region and bring the jobs and opportunities here,” said Lanci.

Highlights of his comprehensive plan:

  • “Market Cuyahoga” assets website – create a database of unemployed and underemployed workers, categorizing each by skill set, and will make the information easily accessible on a website. The site will also provide access to the entire inventory of available commercial property. Businesses can easily find exactly where to locate and whom to hire from simple online searches.
  • Economic Development Office – strengthen public/private partnerships and staff the Economic Development Office with loaned executives from the private sector. The team of financing and jobs creating specialists will work to bring businesses, customers and vendors to the region.
  • Apprenticeship programs – work with organizations to recruit retired skilled workers who will train high school students and recent graduates.  He will expand The Cleveland Construction and Building Trades program to a larger population throughout the county.
  • Casino revenue incentives - use casino revenues to attract and keep jobs in Greater Cleveland by offsetting the high tax  structure.

“I’ve built my home and my businesses here and I know the wonderful resources available in Cuyahoga County. It’s time to let the rest of the world know. When we make it business-friendly, we’ll bring new business and new jobs here. It’s time for revitalization. It’s time for change,” Lanci concluded.
