Ken Lanci invites scrutiny of all Cuyahoga County candidates, including himself.
"Recently I was made aware of a records request regarding my designation of treasurer form and 2009 campaign finance filing with the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections...
by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). After the initial surprise, I found it very refreshing to know that I am being scrutinized. I hope the FBI will examine all candidates running for office.
I was not contacted by the FBI, nor do I understand what they may be looking for in these documents. My campaign finance records are public record and have been filed with the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections for six months.
I understand the importance of disclosure in all aspects of my life—in business and in my campaign. As a successful business man I have already passed intense federal background checks. I operate only under the highest standard of ethics and have every confidence in my ability to lead this county.
My name was also mentioned in a newspaper article about Anthony Calabrese, III. I terminated my professional relationship with Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease and Calabrese six years ago.
Finally, I do hope the FBI thoroughly examines each candidate for all county offices. I am no stranger to this kind of scrutiny, nor will it derail my effort to take the reigns of this county and drive jobs and economic progress. The public needs to demand more from their public officials and deserves only the best the community can provide."
